It would be useful if the thumbnails downloaded in an excel report could be enlarged for better visibility. If not, can they be downloaded in a zip file.
The problem could be significantly reduced, if there were a way to navigate back from an Excel report to a violation instance and view the full-size image there. As described in these ideas:

This isn't possible within the Excel report, unfortunately. To view the full-sized image, the user would need to work from the AMP report.
